- ➤ The Longmont Recreation Center at 310 Quail Road will close on August 18 for extra repairs that will extend until August 31—repairing the pool and gym floor so it can reopen on Labor Day. Community members are advised to visit other facilities like Centennial Pool, Sunset Pool and the St. Vrain Memorial Building during the closure. Longmont Times-Call
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Authorities arrested 23-year-old Angel Lozano in Dacono Monday morning—he fled Colorado after allegedly fatally shooting Aaron Villa in March in El Paso County—and booked him at Weld County Jail on a $1 million bond pending extradition to Texas. Longmont Times-Call
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Longmont's sewer rehabilitation project is underway to update aging pipes and reduce service disruptions until December. Residents will get a 24-hour notice before work begins and are advised to limit water use during work hours — a measure to prevent sewage backups. Longmont Times-Call
