ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A fire at Caribou Village Shopping Center in Nederland forced some Boulder County residents to evacuate early Thursday morning — authorities also closed roads near Peak to Peak and Bridge Street while fire crews reported the blaze was largely under control by 6:30 a.m. and began investigating its cause. - ➤ Sarah Leonard, who led Visit Longmont for nearly three years, is set to lead Visit Estes Park after she was one of two finalists interviewed on Oct. 1. The board will negotiate final contract terms over the next two weeks to fill a vacancy that lasted for more than a year — a key step for the tourism board. Longmont Times-Call

- ➤ St. Vrain Valley elementary, middle and high schools are hosting fall open houses ahead of open enrollment from Dec. 1 to 15 — each school has created an online portfolio with program highlights and resources. - ➤ Longmont’s Hard to Recycle Event runs through Oct. 18 at Green Girl Recycling’s facility at 1801 Boston Ave., letting residents drop off TVs, electronics, mattresses and more.
