  • Longmont ended its decades-long Rhythm at Roosevelt event on Saturday and said it will debut a new two-day Independence Day festival in 2026—this event will offer concerts, food vendors on July 3 and a free community celebration with fireworks and a drone show on July 4 while merging with existing traditions without canceling any. The festival will build on past celebrations to bring the community together for the holiday.  Longmont Times-Call

CRIME NEWS

  • A Longmont woman was arrested on Monday after a five-hour standoff at her North Longmont apartment—police said she barricaded herself while breaking glass and threatening neighbors, and she now faces multiple charges.  Longmont Times-Call

  • St. Vrain Valley School District is asking students, families and community members to propose a name, mascot and school colors for its new PK-8 school in Mead opening in fall 2026—submissions are due Sept 17. The board will review and narrow the choices to three options on Oct 8—ensuring the final decision aligns with board policy.  Longmont Times-Call
