- ➤ Longmont residents can join the free Community Water Academy from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. (Sept. 13) at the Senior Center (910 Longs Peak Ave) as the city’s water department and its partners offer an interactive look at the water system and conservation tips. Longmont Times-Call

- ➤ Local filmmaker Jon Glassberg released the new movie Girl Climber which shows climber Emily Harrington trying to free climb Golden Gate in one day—she began as a competition climber and now takes on a big challenge in the film. Longmont Times-Call
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Colorado Boulder will offer a free, online course on generative AI for the public from Monday to Friday, and over 700 people have registered so far. The five one-hour lessons (covering topics like images, videos, and voice) aim to help community members learn how to use new AI tools and correct earlier misinformation. Longmont Times-Call

- ➤ The Longmont City Council directed city staff to draft two ordinances for annexing county enclaves that hold JARS Cannabis and Native Roots Cannabis—an effort to boost tax revenue by increasing the number of active marijuana store licenses from four to six. If approved, the ordinances will bring the dispensaries under city control and update local regulations for marijuana sales. Longmont Times-Call
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Colorado’s top health official, Dr. Ned Calonge, issued a standing order on Wednesday so anyone six months or older can get the updated COVID vaccine at a pharmacy starting Friday—this change follows restrictions by two major pharmacy chains. The State Board of Pharmacy will meet Friday for an emergency rulemaking session to set rules that protect pharmacy staff when giving the vaccine. Longmont Times-Call
