ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Longmont’s Parks, Recreation and Open Space department asks anglers to collect discarded fishing line, hooks and lures to protect local birds from injury—recent incidents include a pelican and an osprey harmed in earlier months. The city said anglers should throw away lost tackle where recycling bins are not available—helping to keep birds safe.  Longmont Times-Call

  • Holy Family softball beat Niwot 14-0 on Tuesday as sophomore Carly Tooley struck out five batters and allowed three hits in her first start while senior Emmaline Humphreys added two RBIs as a pinch hitter.
