Good morning, Longmont. Here's your local news at a glance for Saturday, the 16th of August.

COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Longmont and the Northern Arapaho Tribe finished the first elder exchange between a U.S. city and a tribal nation with two trips—one in March when Arapaho elders visited Longmont and one in July when local seniors traveled to Wyoming. The visits built strong ties as elders from both groups now call each other family.  Longmont Times-Call
  • Longmont nonprofit HOPE is seeking a church or commercial building to serve as an overnight shelter three nights a week—Thursday through Saturday—to help homeless individuals stay warm as colder weather approaches. If a new space is not found by early September, HOPE will start a community fundraising campaign to invest in a permanent shelter.  Longmont Times-Call

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Debbi Stapp and her late husband Art are among nine inductees in the Boulder County Business Hall of Fame Class of 2025, with an induction ceremony set for Wednesday, Sept. 17 at the Jewish Community Center in Boulder. The Stapp family began their Longmont car dealership in 1974 and continues a legacy of community support through the Stapp Inspires Campaign + funds local causes.  Longmont Times-Call

HEALTH NEWS

  • FluMist, the nasal spray flu vaccine approved by the FDA, is now available for self-administration in Colorado and 33 other states through FluMist Home—customers with commercial insurance pay $8.99 for shipping. The vaccine targets those aged 2 to 49, with caregivers needed for children under 18.  CBS Colorado

REAL ESTATE NEWS

  • A Colorado Weekly Homebuyers List reported multiple home sales across Northern Colorado on Friday, August 15; the list detailed buyer names, property addresses & sale prices. In Longmont, Edwin Marcia Slott sold 3124 Marlin Dr for $825,000 among several local transactions.  Longmont Times-Call
  • Boulder County’s housing market stayed balanced as more homeowners listed their homes, giving buyers a five to six month supply while single-family prices dropped 2.2% and attached-home prices climbed 3.7%—a sign local trends differ from the national slowdown. National home sales are expected to slow because mortgage rates will ease—possibly boosting buyer interest.  Longmont Times-Call
