- ➤ On Saturday, young farmers at the Boulder County Fair junior livestock sale auctioned cows, pigs, turkeys and a grand champion market rabbit that sold for $8,000 to fund future 4-H and FFA projects. Last year’s sale raised over $230,000 and local business bidders joined the event to support the youths’ animal-raising efforts. Longmont Times-Call
- ➤ The Longmont Humane Society named Henry Henry as Pet of the Week on Aug. 9—he is a six-year-old dog with kind eyes who won many hearts and is now looking for a loving home— making him a special friend for our community. Longmont Times-Call
- ➤ Longmont hosted a busy Saturday with the Sunrise Stampede 5K at Fall River Elementary raising funds for Teacher Innovation Grants and other activities such as Cars and Coffee and a dragonfly hike at Pella Crossing; today the community offers Craft Yoga and Sip and Shop at Left Hand Brewing while upcoming programs will feature teen chess, live music and game nights through midweek—providing plenty of options for all. - ➤ On Saturday, Thompson Valley offensive lineman Josiah Manu, a class of 2026 recruit, verbally committed to Colorado under head coach Deion Sanders (flipping his pledge from San Jose State). Rated as a three-star prospect with eight scholarship offers, he became the first in-state recruit for the Buffs this class. Longmont Times-Call
- ➤ CU's head coach Deion Sanders said freshman quarterback Julian Lewis and senior Kaidon Salter are still competing as they prepare for the season opener at Folsom Field on Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. on ESPN—both players work hard in practice and help shape a new offense—and the team will make its decision as game day nears. - ➤ Longmont athlete Anabella Heinrichs worked hard in this season’s American Ninja Warrior to hit the buzzer and advance as the top female competitor in her episode, though she did not reach the final round and will train to return next season.
