  • Longmont police will host Coffee with a Cop on July 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at MeCo Collective, 627 Main St. — Community members can grab a free cup of regular coffee and meet officers to discuss local issues — and the next event is set for Sep. 27 at McDonald’s, 245 South Main St.  Longmont Times-Call

BUSINESS NEWS

  • Longmont Dairy celebrated its 60th anniversary this year—marking six decades of delivering fresh milk in reusable glass bottles from its Loveland farm—and remains a local staple at farmers markets.   • Boulder County Public Health inspected restaurants from July 4 to 17 across the county (Boulder, Lafayette, Longmont, Louisville, Nederland) and all establishments scored within the pass range for food safety. In Longmont, The Garden Grille & Bar, Hampton Inn, The Inn Between of Longmont, McCarthy’s Pub, and Parry’s Pizza earned scores of 0, 0, 0, 0, and 15 respectively (a pass is given for scores below 50).  Longmont Times-Call

SPORTS NEWS

  • The Niwot girls cross country team, led by Addison Ritzenhein, struggled last season in Class 5A and will aim to recapture their state championship form as local teams from Boulder, Holy Family, and Silver Creek also prepare to compete—each group ready to challenge with seasoned talent. The four storylines highlight expected shifts in team dynamics and the promise of a competitive season ahead.  Longmont Times-Call
  • BuffZone writer Pat Rooney shared his thoughts on Colorado football in his weekend edition of 3 Extra Points, noting that 17-year-old JuJu Lewis is expected to show his talent in early nonconference games and that transfer runner Salter will head the run game when preseason practices begin on July 28 (the team is set for an opener on Aug. 29). He also discussed coach Sanders’ health challenges after a toe amputation and blood clot surgeries (issues that raise doubts about his long-term role).  Longmont Times-Call
