- ➤ Longmont police said that on Spencer Street a dispute broke out when one neighbor carried a BB gun and a child held a toy gun—no one was hurt and officers quickly resolved the situation. Longmont Times-Call

- ➤ Longmont hosts its annual Nepali Jatra festival on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the intersection of Fourth Avenue and Kimbark Street—an event that celebrates Nepali heritage. The free festival features traditional clothing and jewelry and cultural performances by Sherpas, Newars, and Gurungs—complete with local food, arts and crafts, storytelling, and rickshaw rides. - ➤ Boulder County Parks and Open Space is hosting the free Summer Heritage Morning event on Sunday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Walker Ranch Homestead (7701 Flagstaff Road) where costumed volunteers guide families through 1800s chores like churning butter and blacksmithing. - ➤ Researchers at the University of Colorado Boulder found that wildfires in our region left high levels of organic carbon, phosphorus, and nitrogen in rivers and streams up to eight years later.
