- ➤ Longmont submitted a report to show how it will follow new state housing rules and started its accessory dwelling unit policy for more backyard cottages and garage apartments — the city also ended minimum parking requirements for future developments to help lower building costs and increase housing options. - ➤ Matthew Popkin, appointed January 28 to represent Ward 2 until November, reopened the St. Vrain Greenway trail and blocked a proposal for indoor marijuana smoking, demonstrating his commitment to community safety and access—he also improved airport communications and led housing and transportation projects to manage Longmont’s growth. He plans to work on the next budget, downtown redevelopment, electric aviation, and a dedicated bus route to the airport in the coming months. Longmont Times-Call
