- ➤ Former University of Colorado Boulder students Maddie Cataldo and Maya Nefs turned a CU project into a startup that recycles coffee chaff into non-carcinogenic fire starters, winning $5,000 at the NextCycle Contest on June 12. - ➤ Nine girls from Fairview and Mead were named to CHSAA all-state lacrosse teams on June 12—Fairview earned three 5A first team spots while Mead secured six selections—and coach Rachel Class of Mead earned Class 4A coach of the year honors as Fairview senior Lucy Michaels, who scored 31 goals, will attend Salisbury next year.
