  • Longmont’s Friday events included Ace Engfer’s concert and album release at 6 p.m. at Wibby Brewing, a free content creation class at noon at Longmont Public Media, and a 3 p.m. D Day commemoration rally on Sixth and Main—several other events such as makers markets, art receptions, bingo, and additional concerts were held across town.  Longmont Times-Call

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • Early Friday morning, firefighters responded to a house fire east of Longmont after Weld County dispatchers received a call just before 3:40 a.m. near Colo. 119 and Weld County Road 7—six people were inside, one suffered burns and was taken to a hospital, and several others were displaced.  Colorado Hometown Weekly

CULTURE NEWS

  • This weekend, the region offers many arts events as Boulder hosts ballet performances, a Shakespeare show at the revamped Roe Green Theater, a film screening at the Boulder Public Library today and a book talk on Friday while Longmont holds its free Pride event at Roosevelt Park and held a cat storytime Friday at the Longmont Library. Other events include a dance installation at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art, a storytelling series at Chautauqua Auditorium, a family theater hike at Chautauqua Picnic Shelter and an outdoor concert in Broomfield on Wednesday—ticket prices and times vary by event.  Longmont Times-Call
  • This week local theaters feature the musical 'Annie' at Jester’s Dinner Theatre in Longmont until June 22 and a family play, 'Rumpelstiltskin and Other Tricksters,' at the Chautauqua Picnic Shelter near Boulder until July 9. EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two local charter school teachers—Julie Ahrens of Twin Peaks Classical Academy in Longmont and Elizabeth Rose Tarbutton of Peak to Peak Charter School in Lafayette—are among 22 Colorado Teacher of the Year semifinalists chosen from 419 applicants across 106 school districts. They will complete extra essay questions next as finalists are named in September and a winner is selected in October.  Colorado Hometown Weekly
