- ➤ Good Life Refuge, a farm animal sanctuary north of Longmont, held its annual gala fundraiser last month to support its nearly 70 animals including Juniper, a Yorkshire pig who overcame factory farm hardships and became the event’s ambassador. The gala raised $28,000—short of its $75,000 goal—and the funds will pay for veterinary care, medication and a year’s worth of hay as the sanctuary plans future animal ambassador programs. - ➤ Robert Duran, 60, was found dead in a ditch in Longmont on May 19 at 3:56 p.m.—he was last seen mid-September—and police said his time in the ditch is under investigation—further inquiries are referred to the Boulder County Coroner’s Office. Longmont Times-Call

- ➤ On Friday, the Boulder County Courthouse was named a National Historic Landmark to honor its role in issuing the first same-sex marriage license 50 years ago by clerk Clela Rorex — a moment marked by plaques, pride balloons and speeches from local leaders.
