CULTURE NEWS

  • Two Boulder County high school students had their art chosen for display in government spaces through this year’s Congressional Art Competition—an award ceremony was held at Longmont Museum on April 12.  Colorado Hometown Weekly

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • On April 11th, Gov. Jared Polis signed a law that restricts most semi-automatic firearms by requiring buyers to pass background checks and complete a safety course—rules that will take effect for new purchases in August—and critics plan legal challenges over the added costs and eligibility requirements.  CBS Colorado
  • CDOT will begin work on Colo. 119/Diagonal Highway to add safety, mobility and bikeway features that will be done in spring 2027 while Longmont sees northbound Coffman Street improvements until May 13 and Countess Court closed to through traffic until May 9. Additional projects in Frederick and Erie include road closures for a new sewer main that last until the end of May and waterline and signal work that will change traffic—officials advise extra travel time—.  Longmont Times-Call
