COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Project Prom, the nonprofit that provides free prom attire for local students, is debuting this weekend by collecting over 2,000 dresses and other formal wear items for the upcoming prom season across Northern Colorado.  Longmont Times-Call
  • Lyons volunteers will plant trees on April 26 and May 3 at the Stone Canyon Fire burn site near Lyons — a project to restore land damaged by the fire that started on July 30. The tree planting events honor Earth Day.  Longmont Times-Call

CRIME NEWS

  • On Tuesday, Longmont police located a wanted person in the 2100 block of North Shore Drive and arrested the individual on outstanding warrants.  Longmont Times-Call

EDUCATION NEWS

  • At Wednesday’s school board meeting, St. Vrain Valley Superintendent Don Haddad announced he will retire at the end of the school year after roughly 16 years leading the district and 25 years in education—he was praised for guiding the district through a pandemic, floods and a recession.  Colorado Hometown Weekly

  • Greenwood Wildlife Rehabilitation Center—located near Lyons—has seen an increase in orphaned baby animals this spring as many young squirrels and bunnies become separated from their families due to tree trimming and pet attacks; community relations manager Mysti Tatro advises residents to watch wildlife from a distance and call experts when needed.  Colorado Hometown Weekly
